First Bank introduced a unique short code which can also be called a transfer code,*894#,. This short code or transfer code can be used without the internet. You can use this code anywhere and anytime as long as you are an individual account holder of first bank, and have your phone number registered with first bank SMS alert platform, you are good to go. The service is open to all subscribers of Airtel, MTN, GLOBACOM and ETISALAT and in all types of phones.

You can use this transfer or short code to;

  • Buy airtime for yourself and others
  • Check account balance
  • Make purchases
  • Pay your bills
  • Open an account



How to register for this service

This is performed using the phone number associated with you first bank account;


  • Dial *894*0#
  • You will see a list of masked Debit card numbers linked to your account displayed.
  • Then, select your preferred debit card
  • Enter the 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) for the selected debit card.
  • After that, you create a new 5- digit pin






Note: This pin is unique and you will use it on your subsequent transactions, so you need to keep it safe.


How to transfer money using first bank transfer code

No need of going to First bank branch or ATM in order to make transfers, simply dial *894*Amount*Account number # and the money will be automatically credited to the account. Note that the account you are to enter is the account that you want to send the money to and not your own account.

To get a mini statement if your account, dial *894*Account number #.


How to open an account using first bank short code

You can now open an account using your phone, dial *894*0# and follow the on screen prompt instructions.

How to recharge airtime for yourself and others using first bank transfer code

You can now conveniently recharge airtime for yourself and others with your phone.
To recharge for yourself, dial *894*Amount#
To recharge for others, dial *894*Amount *Phone number#
You will do these with the phone number associated with your first bank account.







To check account balance using first bank short code

You can now check your account balance without internet on your phone, dial *894*00#, and your account balance will be automatically displayed to you.
