In our daily dealings, someone may have offended us either knowingly or unknowingly. And at a particular point in time, our mind will tell us to go and hurt that person back. Some people don’t have rest of mind until they have revenged for something being done to them. To some people, they see it as a way to “justify their conscience”. Revenge has caused a lot of mishap in our society today, sometimes in attempt to carry out this, greater injury is being inflicted.
Now, my question is, As a Christian, are we supposed to take part in such act? Vengeance is a sin before God, and anybody who possesses the spirit of vengeance should repent of it.
The Bible made it clear to us that vengeance is from God. According to the book of Deut.32:35,” Vengeance is mine, I will repay. In due time their foot will slip, for their days of disaster is near, and their doom is coming quickly”. Whenever someone offends you, leave it for God, He will be the one to fight the battle back for you. Whether you are suffering from oppression, don’t worry God will set you free. Psalm 103:6 says, “The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed”. So do not worry, God is alive. If you have problem, call upon God, if you are wrongly accused call upon him. Jeremiah 20:12 says ” O Lord Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, Let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you I have committed my cause”. This should always be your prayer!
