There’s no doubt that Africa is blessed with talented artists who are proud of their rich cultural heritage. A testament to this is the various international events where African dignatries prefer to wear their traditional outfits to these events. This year’s 2025 Met Gala, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, came with the theme ”Superfine’: Tailoring black style” while the dress code was “Tailored for you”: A call for the display of cultural identity and style. Nigerian musician Temilade Openiyi known by her stage name ‘Tems’, made an unforgettable appearance to the event in a stunning full Ankara ensemble.

Tems dazzled on the red carpet in a breathtaking long Ankara knee-length flared gown, expertly crafted with intricate details. The knee-ball dress featured folded long sleeves, a stately collar, and an elegant bow tie that added a touch of sophistication. The gown’s front was adorned with delicate buttons that cascaded from the neckline to the center of the dress, creating a striking visual effect.
To complete her regal look, she accessorized with a matching Ankara umbrella, perfectly shielding her from the elements while showcasing her impeccable style. Her hair was styled to perfection with an Ankara hair pack that seamlessly blended with her edges on fleek hairstyle, and her lobes sparkled with matching earrings that added a pop of glamour to her overall Ankara ensemble. Tems appeared in a vibrant shade by combining two fabric designs to her style which can also be called mix and match.
